A Historic Moment of Friendship, Peace and Rotary Service

Official Signing of the Intercountry Committee (ICC) Greece–Lebanon

Cairo, Egypt | Saturday, October 24, 2026

Today marks a particularly meaningful and emotional milestone in our Rotary journey: the official signing of the Intercountry Committee (ICC) between Greece and Lebanon, during The Rotary Foundation Seminar 2026, bringing together Districts 2451 and 2452, at the historic Ewart Memorial Hall of the American University in Cairo.

It was a tremendous honor to share this memorable occasion with PDG Annemarie Mostert, President of the ICC Executive Council, and our distinguished Greek Rotarian Panayiotis T. Katrougalos, Regional Rotary Foundation Coordinator, in the presence of fellow Rotary leaders and friends.

This signature represents far more than an official agreement. It is the beginning of a new chapter of friendship, mutual understanding, cultural exchange, international cooperation and meaningful humanitarian service between our two nations.

For me personally, as the daughter of a Greek mother and a Lebanese father, this moment carries an emotion beyond words. Greece and Lebanon have always been united in my heart. Today, through Rotary, we are strengthening that bond with a shared commitment to building bridges of peace and hope.

Peace is not merely the absence of conflict. It is the presence of friendship, understanding, compassion and the willingness to serve humanity together.

May this new ICC become a lasting bridge between our peoples, our cultures and our Rotary families, inspiring future generations to transform friendship into action and action into lasting peace.

My heartfelt gratitude to everyone who helped make this meaningful milestone possible.

Together, across borders, hand in hand and heart to heart, we can turn friendship into service, and service into peace.
